A new era of statistics is upon us!
Welcome to the Stats Zone Pro section for the Apeldoorn 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships.
This online digital statistical service replaces the physical Statistics Handbook that have been previously provided by European Athletics for all its major events for many years.
Digital innovation is one of European Athletics’ key strategies and has the aim of engaging a greater audience for our sport and enhancing their experience with athletics events.
An online digital statistical service at European Athletics major events is just one of many initiatives that have been designed, or are in the process of being implemented, with that philosophy in mind.
Consequently, providing easily accessible statistics – which, in many respects, are the core of our sport as athletic performance is measured in terms of times, heights and distances – is integral to a greater understanding of the championships.
In simple terms, statistics help make sense of the action unfolding in front of our eyes during the four days in Apeldoorn.
The new era of ‘going digital’ for the provision of European Athletics statistics is intended to improve both the quality and the quantity of information provided to the media who are working at this edition of the European Athletics Indoor Championships, as well as make it easier to find that information.
This easily navigable digital service also has the virtue of being significantly more sustainable than the former paper handbooks, especially with regards to the use of valuable finite resources and reducing waste.
Inevitably, the Apeldoorn 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships will provide an avalanche of statistics: championship bests, national records, world-leading marks and personal bests among many other facts and figures.
This portal – created by the global governing body World Athletics in conjunction with European Athletics – allows the media to look back and find the information they want about the 37 previous championships, with the European Athletics Indoor Championships the oldest continental indoor championships in the world having been inaugurated in 1970. and then use that information in whatever way they want.
The depth of information has also been extended from the former handbooks and will be further added to at future events.
Beyond the digital realm, Apeldoorn 2025 will feature many of Europe’s Paris 2024 Olympic champions as well as athletes who took gold at last summer’s Roma 2024 European Athletics Championships.
The championships herald a new era of social innovation in indoor athletics as the European Athletics Indoor Championships return to the Netherlands for the first time in 36 years.
With the theme of ‘Moving People’, the championships will feature various programmes designed to transform fan engagement and build community connections through the power of athletics.
The Omnisport Apeldoorn arena, which underwent a track renovation in 2024 ahead of the championships will serve as the venue for this prestigious event which is expected to stay in the memory of athletics aficionados for many years to come.
